The Storm: Martin Luther Part 1

This week on Fresh Ground Theology’s The Weekend Cup, we begin the story of Martin Luther, one of the most influential and controversial figures of the Protestant Reformation. We explore Luther’s childhood in late-medieval Germany, his education and planned career in law, and the deeply supernatural Christian worldview that shaped his understanding of God, judgment, saints, demons, heaven, and hell.

Then, in 1505, everything changes. Caught in a terrifying thunderstorm near Stotternheim, Luther cries out to Saint Anne and vows to become a monk. Follow the young Martin Luther from the world his father planned for him to the doors of an Augustinian monastery—and the beginning of a journey that would eventually transform Western Christianity.
