A Mighty Fortress: Martin Luther Part 4

This week on Fresh Ground Theology’s The Weekend Cup, we follow Martin Luther through the turbulent final decades of his life. From his hiding place at Wartburg Castle and his German translation of the Bible to his marriage to Katharina von Bora, the Peasants’ War, the growth of the Protestant Reformation, and Luther’s deeply supernatural understanding of Satan and spiritual warfare, the former monk becomes one of the defining figures of European Christianity.

We also confront the darker side of the later Luther, including his increasingly harsh rhetoric and disturbing anti-Jewish writings, before following him back to Eisleben and his death in 1546. We conclude the Martin Luther series with the hymn that captures so much of his theology and supernatural worldview: A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.
