Meet the friends around the table.
We’re Nate, David, and Wes. We came to theology with different interests and training, but we keep finding questions we want to explore together.
Coffee helps. So does having friends who ask, “Wait—how did you get there?”
If you enjoy taking your time with a theological question, we’d love to have you listening.

Friendship makes room for another question.
Before there were microphones, David and Wes talked theology while unloading trucks at a retail store. One question led to another, and those hours of conversation grew into a friendship.
That’s the kind of company we hope you find here. We don’t always reach the same interpretation. We ask each other to show the source, explain the connection, and reconsider the argument. If you have ever wished you had friends who enjoyed these questions as much as you do, pull up a chair.
Get to know the guys.

Nate Labadorf
Research, teaching, and a practical streak.
Give Nate a difficult passage or an unfamiliar ancient source, and he’ll want to work through the evidence step by step. He brings a coach’s instinct for making the argument understandable.
Background and interests
He studied Bible and theology at Bob Jones University, earning a BA, a master’s in Biblical Studies, and an MDiv. His background also includes electrical work and commercial estimating; away from the books, he enjoys gardening and serving his local church.

David Ryan Lompe
Ancient texts and an artist’s imagination.
David brings the artist’s eye, an enthusiasm for the strange corners of the ancient world, and the occasional connection nobody else saw coming.
Background and interests
A studio art graduate of Bob Jones University, he works in design for a Christian textbook publisher. Nate introduced him to Michael Heiser’s work, which helped turn a longstanding interest in theology into sustained study. He enjoys woodcarving, model building, and German-roasted coffee.

Wes Scott
Biblical questions and the life of the church.
Wes is the one who wants to know what a passage means for worship, obedience, and life in a congregation. He also enjoys the Bible’s stranger passages.
Background and interests
He studied Christian Studies at North Greenville University and later attended Southeastern Seminary, and he brings experience teaching Sunday school and serving in church ministry. His coffee allegiance remains firmly with Folgers Classic Roast.
Bring your questions. We’ll open the sources.
We’re Christian friends who want to understand Scripture in the world in which it was written. We compare interpretations, read ancient texts and Christians from other centuries, and explain why a reading persuades us. We aim to distinguish what a passage says from what we infer.
Our hope is that learning together deepens our love for Jesus and shapes how we pray, worship, and treat our neighbors. Your questions, corrections, and disagreements are welcome.
